Frequently Asked Questions
Practical guidance on raw denim care, sizing, leather break-in, and workshop logistics.
How should I care for my raw selvedge denim?
Wear your jeans hard for 4 to 6 months before the first wash to establish sharp crease lines and whiskering. When washing, turn the jeans inside-out, wash in cold water on a delicate cycle using mild detergent (no bleach), and hang dry out of direct sunlight.
Are your jeans sanforized or shrink-to-fit?
Most of our mainline selvedge jeans are sanforized (pre-shrunk), meaning they will only shrink roughly 1-2% in length upon the first cold soak. In the waist, they will stretch about 1 inch over the first month of wear to mold to your anatomy.
How do I select the right belt size?
As a rule of thumb, order your bridle leather belt 2 inches larger than your true jean waist size. If you wear size 32 selvedge jeans, order a size 34 belt. This places the buckle prong directly in the middle hole.
